All singles wild cards—both for the main draw and the qualifying rounds—have been awarded to Romanian players, creating a unique opportunity for them to compete at a level typically reached progressively through the Challenger circuit.
Filip Jianu, Adrian Boitan, and Radu David Țurcanu will enter directly into the singles main draw, while in doubles, the pairs Nuno Borges / Victor Cornea and Alexandru Jecan / Bogdan Pavel will take to the court.
“The difference between Challenger and ATP level is immediately noticeable—not just in pace, but in consistency and the pressure of every point. Without access to matches at this level, it’s very difficult to take the next step. These wild cards give Romanian players exactly what they need: high-level matches against opponents who regularly compete on the ATP Tour.”, said Tournament Director George Cosac.
Jianu Returns to the Main Draw
For Filip Jianu, competing in Bucharest marks a return to the main draw and an opportunity to prove himself at ATP level.
“I’d like to thank the organizers for the opportunity to play in the main draw. Since last year, I’ve seen how important it is to compete at a higher level, against experienced players we can learn so much from. It really helps to feel on court what level you need to reach to break into the top 100.
This year, I aim to perform at least as well as last year and hopefully see a Romanian player reach the later stages of the tournament.”, said Filip Jianu.
Doubles: Cornea and Borges Top Seeds
Victor Cornea, one of Romania’s highest-ranked doubles players, will team up with Portugal’s Nuno Borges, with the pair entering the competition as top seeds.
“For me, a wild card is an important opportunity to compete at ATP 250 level, where I feel competitive. It’s also a strong vote of confidence from the organizers, which means a lot.
Partnering with Nuno Borges gives me confidence and excitement. I’m approaching this opportunity with a clear goal: to turn it into the strongest possible run.”, said Victor Cornea.
Strong Singles and Doubles Line-Up
This year’s singles draw features 28 players: 18 direct acceptances based on ATP rankings, three wild cards, three Special Exempt entries, and players advancing from the qualifying rounds. The tournament includes notable ATP names, with seven players ranked inside the ATP Top 60. The top seed is Canadian Gabriel Diallo, currently ranked No. 37 in the ATP standings.
Also returning to Bucharest are players who delivered strong performances in recent editions, including Mariano Navone, finalist in 2024, and Sebastián Báez, finalist in 2025, alongside established names such as Adrian Mannarino, Fabian Marozsan, and Roberto Bautista-Agut.
The doubles draw includes 16 teams: 14 direct acceptances based on ATP rankings and two wild cards awarded to Nuno Borges / Victor Cornea (top seeds) and Alexandru Jecan / Bogdan Pavel.
